Narrative:

After takeoff a gear disagreement warning message occurred! Following QRH procedures gear were manually placed in down and locked position. As aircraft handling was less than normal as the nose gear door remained open following QRH procedures an overweight landing was executed. Contributing to this decision was the flight crew's inability to contact company maintenance due to the low altitude (traffic pattern). Landing was accomplished at approximately 200 FPM rate of descent!
