Narrative:
The system nom did a channel switchover and apparently we lost the flight information and aircraft symbol on air carrier X and were unaware until we received a slatn position report. This was extremely dangerous as there was traffic coming out of sector 86 at the same altitude crossing.

Title: ZNY CTLR DESCRIBED POTENTIAL CONFLICT INCIDENT WHEN ATOP EQUIP FAILED TO DISPLAY ACFT TARGET INFO DURING CHANNEL SWITCH.
Narrative: THE SYS NOM DID A CHANNEL SWITCHOVER AND APPARENTLY WE LOST THE FLT INFO AND ACFT SYMBOL ON ACR X AND WERE UNAWARE UNTIL WE RECEIVED A SLATN POS RPT. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THERE WAS TFC COMING OUT OF SECTOR 86 AT THE SAME ALT XING.
