Narrative:
While departing a loud pop occurred that was simultaneously followed by a yawing motion indicating an engine malfunction. Departure was being contacted when the event occurred at approximately 1000 ft AGL. The captain notified me of the problem with the right engine. The engine had automatic-feathered and we commenced a left turn to enter the downwind for runway 24; the runway the aircraft had just departed. While on the downwind the engine failure checklist was run followed by the engine securing checklist. Departure was notified of our intentions to return for landing and we touched down on runway 24 without further incident.
