Narrative:
I departed teb on runway 24 flying single pilot on a king air 200 with the collins proline system. The departure calls for runway heading to 1500 ft then a turn to heading 280 degrees until crossing the 4.5 DME of teb then a climb to 2000 ft. I set my altitude selector to 1500 ft and flew the departure to 1500 ft then turned to heading 280; I don't know why I then reset my altitude selector to 2000 ft and began to climb to 2000 ft. The ny controller asked me what my altitude was and I replied 2000 ft. The controller was very professional and said there was no problem but I really needed to review my ny departure procedures and comply with them. I have done this departure before and done it correctly. I look back on this incident and I think I somehow tied the turn to the climb which of course is incorrect. I did review this departure several times before the flight that day and still made this error. I have been a professional pilot for over 40 years; I guess this shows that you are only as good as your last flight.

Title: BE20 FAILS TO COMPLY WITH ALT RESTRICTIONS ON TEB SID.
Narrative: I DEPARTED TEB ON RWY 24 FLYING SINGLE PLT ON A KING AIR 200 WITH THE COLLINS PROLINE SYSTEM. THE DEP CALLS FOR RWY HDG TO 1500 FT THEN A TURN TO HDG 280 DEGS UNTIL CROSSING THE 4.5 DME OF TEB THEN A CLB TO 2000 FT. I SET MY ALT SELECTOR TO 1500 FT AND FLEW THE DEP TO 1500 FT THEN TURNED TO HDG 280; I DON'T KNOW WHY I THEN RESET MY ALT SELECTOR TO 2000 FT AND BEGAN TO CLB TO 2000 FT. THE NY CTLR ASKED ME WHAT MY ALT WAS AND I REPLIED 2000 FT. THE CTLR WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROB BUT I REALLY NEEDED TO REVIEW MY NY DEP PROCS AND COMPLY WITH THEM. I HAVE DONE THIS DEP BEFORE AND DONE IT CORRECTLY. I LOOK BACK ON THIS INCIDENT AND I THINK I SOMEHOW TIED THE TURN TO THE CLB WHICH OF COURSE IS INCORRECT. I DID REVIEW THIS DEP SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE FLT THAT DAY AND STILL MADE THIS ERROR. I HAVE BEEN A PROFESSIONAL PLT FOR OVER 40 YEARS; I GUESS THIS SHOWS THAT YOU ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR LAST FLT.
