Narrative:
I filed a VFR flight plan with altoona FSS and later activated the flight pan with altoona FSS airborne on 122.2 at XA37 local on may/tue/07. On arrival at N94 I was unable to contact williamsport FSS while airborne on any frequencys at XB57. After landing on the landline; the williamsport FSS informed me the VFR flight plan had not been activated in the computer. This was a night VFR over difficult terrain and as it turns out there was no monitoring of my arrival as I had expected.
