Narrative:
Flight was arriving in las. We waited in the alley for the ground crew to come over to the gate and park the aircraft. A marshaller and 2 wing walkers arrived with wands. As marshaller was directing aircraft forward; we felt a thump and captain shut down engines. Marshaller was still directing aircraft forward. We discovered that left engine had struck the jetway; causing damage to the nacelle area. I immediately notified station operations and dispatch. Captain asked the first officer if he felt a thump. First officer said it felt like we may have run over a chock. After shutting down the engines; established communications with the ground crew and pushed aircraft back to the proper parking spot. The company should ensure thorough training of all ramp personnel with the responsibility of ensuring that aircraft are parked safely at the gate; especially in night operations.
