Narrative:
Takeoff from ord. Just after rotation; was alerted by ECAM of 'engine 2 N2 overspd.' N2 gauge was flashing red with approximately 101% value displayed. Reduced thrust on both engines to climb power and warning went away; although continued to have a red '+' next to engine #2 N2 gauge. Told ord departure we may be coming back to ord. Contacted dispatch and maintenance to discuss situation and determined our safest course of action was to return to ord. Set up and landed uneventfully; albeit 10000 pounds over maximum landing weight.
