Narrative:

I think the taxiway signage at miami is horrible and dangerous. I have flown into the airport numerous times in my career and still find it the most confusing airport I fly into. Taxiing out of spot 9 to runway 8R or runway 12 especially at night is confusing. Trying to find taxiway west or Y or J is very difficult. There are some yellow lines with green taxiway lights on them and there are a few yellow lines with no green taxiway light on them. It seems each time we taxi out we get a different route. This makes it even more difficult. I'll make sure my first officer also has his airport diagram out and is also looking outside with me until we get on one of the parallel txwys and I am certain I know were we are.
