Narrative:
On the canarsie approach for runway 13L descended to 600 ft approximately when called by tower of altitude check. The altimeter was falling rapidly and climbed to 800 ft and no further event. Landed and taxied the aircraft to the gate.

Title: A B747-400 DESCENDED TO 600 FT ON APCH TO JFK 13L. TOWER CALLED LOW ALT ALERT AND CREW CLBED TO 800 FT. BAROMETRIC PRESSURE WAS CHANGING RAPIDLY.
Narrative: ON THE CANARSIE APCH FOR RWY 13L DSNDED TO 600 FT APPROX WHEN CALLED BY TWR OF ALT CHK. THE ALTIMETER WAS FALLING RAPIDLY AND CLBED TO 800 FT AND NO FURTHER EVENT. LANDED AND TAXIED THE ACFT TO THE GATE.
