Narrative:

I was at the new richmond; wi airport (rnh) doing full stop lndgs on runway 14. There were 2 other aircraft in the pattern at the time. One was a piper warrior. I had done 4 lndgs to a full stop. On the fifth landing I landed a little long because of construction dust blowing across the approach end of runway 14 (the runway has just been extended to 5500 ft and they were working on extending the taxiway). Just as I was rolling out from the landing the pilot in the warrior reported that he was on short final to runway 14. I made the second turn off of the runway and was proceeding toward the runway hold short line. I looked out my right side window to see how close the landing airplane was; and he was just about to touch down. As I was proceeding to clear the runway by crossing the hold short line and turning to taxi back to runway 14; I heard someone say over the CTAF; 'aircraft that just landed; stop; you turned onto the taxiway without looking.' I immediately stopped my aircraft and looked out the left side window. I saw a yellow citabria on the taxiway stopped; with his propeller about 3 ft from my left wingtip. No contact was made between the 2 aircraft; but it was way too close for comfort. I failed to see the citabria; because; on landing I was concentrating on controling my aircraft on the runway and I was not looking for aircraft coming down the taxiway. I was distraction by trying to get my aircraft off the runway as quickly as possible to clear it for the landing traffic. In order to clear the runway at rnh you have to taxi onto the taxiway (hold short line is at the edge of the taxiway in this location). This airport normally has very little traffic during the week; so seeing another airplane on the taxiway was a big surprise. I never expected that there would be anyone on the taxiway. In retrospect; I should have anticipated the possibility. The guy in the citabria never made an announcement on the CTAF saying that he was taxiing. I had a visual picture in my mind of where all the other aircraft operating in the area were because of their CTAF reports; but I had no idea that the citabria was in the area. I had learned a valuable lesson. Always look both ways before entering a taxiway; even if there is landing traffic close behind. Contributing factors were as follows: I failed to see the citabria because I was distraction by the traffic landing close behind. The windshield post structure on my aircraft blocks peripheral vision to the left side field of view in the area that the citabria was. The guy in the citabria was taxiing down the taxiway and should have had full view of the landing traffic; he should have anticipated that I would be exiting the runway; and he failed to yield to my aircraft as I was trying to exit the runway. The hold short lines at rnh; do not allow you to clear the runway without moving onto the main taxiway. Airport txwys should be spaced far enough from the runway so as to allow landing traffic to clear the runway and come to a complete stop without entering the main taxiway. Pilots are not required to report on CTAF that they are taxiing on an airport. If he had reported his taxi; the visual picture in my mind; of the aircraft operating in the area; would have been more complete. Even though I should have seen him; and didn't; I believe that landing traffic should have the right-of-way in this situation. Landing is a busy time and doing a full visual scan of everything around you is probably not the safest thing to be doing as you are rolling out after landing. I was approaching from his right; even though he was on the taxiway. He should have anticipated my turn off the runway and yielded well before we got that close. He was in a better position to see and avoid my aircraft as he was moving at lower speed in the moments before the mishap. Rest assured that I have learned from this unpleasant experience.

Title: OSPREY 2 PILOT REPORTS NEAR COLLISION WITH CITABRIA ON PARALLEL TXWY AFTER QUICKLY CLEARING RWY FOR LANDING TRAFFIC.

Narrative: I WAS AT THE NEW RICHMOND; WI ARPT (RNH) DOING FULL STOP LNDGS ON RWY 14. THERE WERE 2 OTHER ACFT IN THE PATTERN AT THE TIME. ONE WAS A PIPER WARRIOR. I HAD DONE 4 LNDGS TO A FULL STOP. ON THE FIFTH LNDG I LANDED A LITTLE LONG BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION DUST BLOWING ACROSS THE APCH END OF RWY 14 (THE RWY HAS JUST BEEN EXTENDED TO 5500 FT AND THEY WERE WORKING ON EXTENDING THE TXWY). JUST AS I WAS ROLLING OUT FROM THE LNDG THE PLT IN THE WARRIOR RPTED THAT HE WAS ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 14. I MADE THE SECOND TURN OFF OF THE RWY AND WAS PROCEEDING TOWARD THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE. I LOOKED OUT MY R SIDE WINDOW TO SEE HOW CLOSE THE LNDG AIRPLANE WAS; AND HE WAS JUST ABOUT TO TOUCH DOWN. AS I WAS PROCEEDING TO CLR THE RWY BY XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND TURNING TO TAXI BACK TO RWY 14; I HEARD SOMEONE SAY OVER THE CTAF; 'ACFT THAT JUST LANDED; STOP; YOU TURNED ONTO THE TXWY WITHOUT LOOKING.' I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED MY ACFT AND LOOKED OUT THE L SIDE WINDOW. I SAW A YELLOW CITABRIA ON THE TXWY STOPPED; WITH HIS PROP ABOUT 3 FT FROM MY L WINGTIP. NO CONTACT WAS MADE BTWN THE 2 ACFT; BUT IT WAS WAY TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. I FAILED TO SEE THE CITABRIA; BECAUSE; ON LNDG I WAS CONCENTRATING ON CTLING MY ACFT ON THE RWY AND I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR ACFT COMING DOWN THE TXWY. I WAS DISTR BY TRYING TO GET MY ACFT OFF THE RWY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TO CLR IT FOR THE LNDG TFC. IN ORDER TO CLR THE RWY AT RNH YOU HAVE TO TAXI ONTO THE TXWY (HOLD SHORT LINE IS AT THE EDGE OF THE TXWY IN THIS LOCATION). THIS ARPT NORMALLY HAS VERY LITTLE TFC DURING THE WEEK; SO SEEING ANOTHER AIRPLANE ON THE TXWY WAS A BIG SURPRISE. I NEVER EXPECTED THAT THERE WOULD BE ANYONE ON THE TXWY. IN RETROSPECT; I SHOULD HAVE ANTICIPATED THE POSSIBILITY. THE GUY IN THE CITABRIA NEVER MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE CTAF SAYING THAT HE WAS TAXIING. I HAD A VISUAL PICTURE IN MY MIND OF WHERE ALL THE OTHER ACFT OPERATING IN THE AREA WERE BECAUSE OF THEIR CTAF RPTS; BUT I HAD NO IDEA THAT THE CITABRIA WAS IN THE AREA. I HAD LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON. ALWAYS LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE ENTERING A TXWY; EVEN IF THERE IS LNDG TFC CLOSE BEHIND. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE AS FOLLOWS: I FAILED TO SEE THE CITABRIA BECAUSE I WAS DISTR BY THE TFC LNDG CLOSE BEHIND. THE WINDSHIELD POST STRUCTURE ON MY ACFT BLOCKS PERIPHERAL VISION TO THE L SIDE FIELD OF VIEW IN THE AREA THAT THE CITABRIA WAS. THE GUY IN THE CITABRIA WAS TAXIING DOWN THE TXWY AND SHOULD HAVE HAD FULL VIEW OF THE LNDG TFC; HE SHOULD HAVE ANTICIPATED THAT I WOULD BE EXITING THE RWY; AND HE FAILED TO YIELD TO MY ACFT AS I WAS TRYING TO EXIT THE RWY. THE HOLD SHORT LINES AT RNH; DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO CLR THE RWY WITHOUT MOVING ONTO THE MAIN TXWY. ARPT TXWYS SHOULD BE SPACED FAR ENOUGH FROM THE RWY SO AS TO ALLOW LNDG TFC TO CLR THE RWY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT ENTERING THE MAIN TXWY. PLTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO RPT ON CTAF THAT THEY ARE TAXIING ON AN ARPT. IF HE HAD RPTED HIS TAXI; THE VISUAL PICTURE IN MY MIND; OF THE ACFT OPERATING IN THE AREA; WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE COMPLETE. EVEN THOUGH I SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIM; AND DIDN'T; I BELIEVE THAT LNDG TFC SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT-OF-WAY IN THIS SIT. LNDG IS A BUSY TIME AND DOING A FULL VISUAL SCAN OF EVERYTHING AROUND YOU IS PROBABLY NOT THE SAFEST THING TO BE DOING AS YOU ARE ROLLING OUT AFTER LNDG. I WAS APCHING FROM HIS R; EVEN THOUGH HE WAS ON THE TXWY. HE SHOULD HAVE ANTICIPATED MY TURN OFF THE RWY AND YIELDED WELL BEFORE WE GOT THAT CLOSE. HE WAS IN A BETTER POS TO SEE AND AVOID MY ACFT AS HE WAS MOVING AT LOWER SPD IN THE MOMENTS BEFORE THE MISHAP. REST ASSURED THAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE.
