Narrative:
Following marshaler's instructions; we stopped inches away from hitting the jetway with our left engine. The marshalers did not regard wing walker's instructions to stop. I believe that due to lack of training and proper supervision of new hires this was a tragedy nearly avoided. An obvious newly hired ramp marshaler nearly directed us into a jetway disregarding other ramp agents' attempts to stop us short of the left engine hitting the jetway. The gate is a turn in gate and needs a qualified; experienced ramp agent to handle a turn in gate. Ramp wing walker was summoned to captain to explain why we had to be towed back to deplane passenger. I contacted chief pilot. Better training and supervision of new hired ground personnel.
