Pilot taxied aircraft (BE60) across ramp; left both engines running and then left the cockpit unoccupied to open door for passenger. Aircraft was aimed at other aircraft and in the event of a brake failure could have run into other aircraft or persons on the ramp. In event of an engine fire; the aircraft cockpit would have been unoccupied causing a delay in response by the PIC.
