Narrative:
While flying the bonham five arrival into dfw; I deviated from the arrival. Before departing I entered an arrival runway of 17C into the FMS which is normally the runway we land on coming from the east. I also entered the bonham five arrival with a little rock (lit) transition into the FMS (lit BYP5). While flying the lit.BYP5; ATC gave us a landing runway of runway 35C. I never entered the new runway into the FMS. Well; because of this the FMS only drew the arrival course from lit to lemyn. At lemyn; the STAR says to make a turn to the left to make the aircraft's heading 190 degrees and this is what I did. ATC immediately told me to fly direct to stonz waypoint and I corrected our course to stonz. Had I entered in the correct runway the aircraft would have taken us directly to stonz waypoint and the FMS would have drawn the complete course from lit to stonz.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: E145 INBOUND TO DFW FAILS TO REPROGRAM CHANGE IN RWY IN FMS. TRACK DEV RESULTS.
Narrative: WHILE FLYING THE BONHAM FIVE ARR INTO DFW; I DEVIATED FROM THE ARR. BEFORE DEPARTING I ENTERED AN ARR RWY OF 17C INTO THE FMS WHICH IS NORMALLY THE RWY WE LAND ON COMING FROM THE E. I ALSO ENTERED THE BONHAM FIVE ARR WITH A LITTLE ROCK (LIT) TRANSITION INTO THE FMS (LIT BYP5). WHILE FLYING THE LIT.BYP5; ATC GAVE US A LNDG RWY OF RWY 35C. I NEVER ENTERED THE NEW RWY INTO THE FMS. WELL; BECAUSE OF THIS THE FMS ONLY DREW THE ARR COURSE FROM LIT TO LEMYN. AT LEMYN; THE STAR SAYS TO MAKE A TURN TO THE L TO MAKE THE ACFT'S HDG 190 DEGS AND THIS IS WHAT I DID. ATC IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME TO FLY DIRECT TO STONZ WAYPOINT AND I CORRECTED OUR COURSE TO STONZ. HAD I ENTERED IN THE CORRECT RWY THE ACFT WOULD HAVE TAKEN US DIRECTLY TO STONZ WAYPOINT AND THE FMS WOULD HAVE DRAWN THE COMPLETE COURSE FROM LIT TO STONZ.
