Narrative:

Mci ATIS Z arrs expect visual approach runways 1R; 1L simultaneous approachs in use; etc. We briefed for runway 1R and was vectored by approach for runway 1R. We were cleared for the visual for runway 1R and told to contact tower. Meanwhile aircraft Y was being vectored by approach as well. Approach told aircraft Y to expect to land north; he objected to this and ask to land south. Approach at first told aircraft Y he had to land north. Aircraft Y persisted on a south landing clearance. Approach said he would try and work it out. And then said he thought he could get him in on runway 19R. As we contacted tower; first officer says to me I think aircraft Y has lined up on the wrong runway; I think he is coming at us. We checked in with tower and tower told us to slow to approach speed now. At this point we could not tell if this was an illusion or if aircraft Y was landing on our runway. It was no illusion; tower then cleared aircraft Y to land on runway 19L told us to land on runway 1L. We did. I don't know if this was tower's; approach's or aircraft Y's fault or a combination of the 3; but it really limited our options and margin for safety; especially at night; as we contacted tower.

WE WERE CLRED FOR THE VISUAL FOR RWY 1R AND TOLD TO CONTACT TWR. MEANWHILE ACFT Y WAS BEING VECTORED BY APCH AS WELL. APCH TOLD ACFT Y TO EXPECT TO LAND N; HE OBJECTED TO THIS AND ASK TO LAND S. APCH AT FIRST TOLD ACFT Y HE HAD TO LAND N. ACFT Y PERSISTED ON A S LNDG CLRNC. APCH SAID HE WOULD TRY AND WORK IT OUT. AND THEN SAID HE THOUGHT HE COULD GET HIM IN ON RWY 19R. AS WE CONTACTED TWR; FO SAYS TO ME I THINK ACFT Y HAS LINED UP ON THE WRONG RWY; I THINK HE IS COMING AT US. WE CHKED IN WITH TWR AND TWR TOLD US TO SLOW TO APCH SPD NOW. AT THIS POINT WE COULD NOT TELL IF THIS WAS AN ILLUSION OR IF ACFT Y WAS LNDG ON OUR RWY. IT WAS NO ILLUSION; TWR THEN CLRED ACFT Y TO LAND ON RWY 19L TOLD US TO LAND ON RWY 1L. WE DID.
