Narrative:
I entered the practice area (a) from ellington on an easterly heading. I performed clearing turns and turned on my landing light. I made a radio call and asked my student to enter slow flight. Upon recovery when my student lowered the nose I saw another aircraft ahead of me at the same altitude and opposite direction. I immediately made a hard climbing right turn to avoid a collision. I tried to hail the other aircraft on the practice area frequency but heard nothing.
