Narrative:
I was notified 2 hours ago via my first officer who was informed by the first officer who took the aircraft from us in ZZZ that the 'elec' and 'ovht' annunciators were wired incorrectly on the aircraft. (They found this at some point during their operation of the aircraft.) I tested the appropriate system during my preflight and all system appeared to test correctly to me. Apparently; they were wired incorrectly. I am not sure when this maintenance procedure was accomplished as I don't recall any information in the logbook regarding issues with the annunciator panel. Maintenance needs to test the appropriate system at the completion of their maintenance procedure to ensure their work was accomplished correctly. I; as well; need to ensure that the system I am testing are responding correctly. I will pay more attention to the lights that illuminate on the annunciator panel during this test in the future. Supplemental information from acn 770701: upon engine shutdown on their first arrival they noted a detent/overheat annunciation instead of an 'elec' annunciation on the system annunciator panel. Maintenance corrected the issue and informed them that 2 wires had been connected in reverse order. Callback conversation with reporter acn 770698 revealed the following information: reporter stated maintenance informed him and his first officer that this was the result of previous maintenance having connected two wires in reverse order. This was a maintenance issue and not an aircraft manufacturer installation issue.

Title: A B737-700 INBOUND FLIGHT CREW IS INFORMED LATER BY THE OUTBOUND FO WHO TOOK THE ACFT THAT THE ELEC AND DET/OVERHEAT ANNUNCIATORS WERE WIRED INCORRECTLY.
Narrative: I WAS NOTIFIED 2 HRS AGO VIA MY FO WHO WAS INFORMED BY THE FO WHO TOOK THE ACFT FROM US IN ZZZ THAT THE 'ELEC' AND 'OVHT' ANNUNCIATORS WERE WIRED INCORRECTLY ON THE ACFT. (THEY FOUND THIS AT SOME POINT DURING THEIR OP OF THE ACFT.) I TESTED THE APPROPRIATE SYS DURING MY PREFLT AND ALL SYS APPEARED TO TEST CORRECTLY TO ME. APPARENTLY; THEY WERE WIRED INCORRECTLY. I AM NOT SURE WHEN THIS MAINT PROC WAS ACCOMPLISHED AS I DON'T RECALL ANY INFO IN THE LOGBOOK REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE ANNUNCIATOR PANEL. MAINT NEEDS TO TEST THE APPROPRIATE SYS AT THE COMPLETION OF THEIR MAINT PROC TO ENSURE THEIR WORK WAS ACCOMPLISHED CORRECTLY. I; AS WELL; NEED TO ENSURE THAT THE SYS I AM TESTING ARE RESPONDING CORRECTLY. I WILL PAY MORE ATTN TO THE LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATE ON THE ANNUNCIATOR PANEL DURING THIS TEST IN THE FUTURE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 770701: UPON ENG SHUTDOWN ON THEIR FIRST ARR THEY NOTED A DETENT/OVERHEAT ANNUNCIATION INSTEAD OF AN 'ELEC' ANNUNCIATION ON THE SYS ANNUNCIATOR PANEL. MAINT CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THEM THAT 2 WIRES HAD BEEN CONNECTED IN REVERSE ORDER. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR ACN 770698 REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER STATED MAINT INFORMED HIM AND HIS FO THAT THIS WAS THE RESULT OF PREVIOUS MAINT HAVING CONNECTED TWO WIRES IN REVERSE ORDER. THIS WAS A MAINT ISSUE AND NOT AN AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER INSTALLATION ISSUE.
