Narrative:
Departing livermore; ca; on the byron one SID. Our IFR clearance altitude was to climb to 4000 ft. It was the copilot's leg (PF). I had been busy loading passenger and had left the cockpit set-up duties to the copilot. After engine start; part of his pre-departure brief was 'climb to 4000.' the departure was retrieved from the database and inserted into the active flight plan page. I had looked at both SID's earlier in the day and not noticed anything unusual. Upon climbing through 3000 ft a message appeared on the FMS; 'check altitude constraint.' I then noticed the boxed note on the plan view that said; over reiga NDB; 'at or below 3000 ft.' this wording on the paper copy of the SID should be changed. It is not mentioned in the textual description. In contrast; on the livermore one departure; the altitude restr 'climb runway heading to 1200 ft' is in the text and plan view. Adding to the confusion under the text (on both); is altitude; 'maintain assigned altitude.' the proper wording; in both the plan and text; should be the same. There is no mention of a climb restr in the text of the byron one as there is in the livermore one SID.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: C750 FLT CREW OVERSHOT ALT RESTRICTION ON BYRON DEP; LVK. ALT RESTRICTION IS DISPLAYED ON THE PLAN VIEW; BUT NOT IN TEXT.
Narrative: DEPARTING LIVERMORE; CA; ON THE BYRON ONE SID. OUR IFR CLRNC ALT WAS TO CLB TO 4000 FT. IT WAS THE COPLT'S LEG (PF). I HAD BEEN BUSY LOADING PAX AND HAD LEFT THE COCKPIT SET-UP DUTIES TO THE COPLT. AFTER ENG START; PART OF HIS PRE-DEP BRIEF WAS 'CLB TO 4000.' THE DEP WAS RETRIEVED FROM THE DATABASE AND INSERTED INTO THE ACTIVE FLT PLAN PAGE. I HAD LOOKED AT BOTH SID'S EARLIER IN THE DAY AND NOT NOTICED ANYTHING UNUSUAL. UPON CLBING THROUGH 3000 FT A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE FMS; 'CHK ALT CONSTRAINT.' I THEN NOTICED THE BOXED NOTE ON THE PLAN VIEW THAT SAID; OVER REIGA NDB; 'AT OR BELOW 3000 FT.' THIS WORDING ON THE PAPER COPY OF THE SID SHOULD BE CHANGED. IT IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE TEXTUAL DESCRIPTION. IN CONTRAST; ON THE LIVERMORE ONE DEP; THE ALT RESTR 'CLB RWY HDG TO 1200 FT' IS IN THE TEXT AND PLAN VIEW. ADDING TO THE CONFUSION UNDER THE TEXT (ON BOTH); IS ALT; 'MAINTAIN ASSIGNED ALT.' THE PROPER WORDING; IN BOTH THE PLAN AND TEXT; SHOULD BE THE SAME. THERE IS NO MENTION OF A CLB RESTR IN THE TEXT OF THE BYRON ONE AS THERE IS IN THE LIVERMORE ONE SID.
