Narrative:

The previous day to the flight; flew a 12+ hour duty day! Finished at approximately XA00. On arrival back to base; was sent an ACARS message from dispatch to contact crew scheduling. On arrival; crew scheduling informed me that I was being switched from the early zone to the late zone and given the ZZZ2 late night flight! I looked to see if there were reserves available to fly the event and there were 3 reserves in the proper zone to fly that trip. I called scheduling and asked why the reserves in the proper zone were not scheduled to fly the trip. The scheduler said that I was 'proferred' the trip. I accepted the trip and informed them that I had flown a long duty day and that they should use a reserve in the proper zone. The next day I awoke at XK30 to get my kids off to school. I slept well the night because of the long duty day the day before. I was unable to get any sleep that day and I called to check in with crew scheduling and let them know that I was unable to get any sleep and was afraid that I would not feel good when I arrived in ZZZ. I also called my base chief pilot who informed me that I should do my best; but if when I arrived in ZZZ assess if I was fit to fly. When I arrived in ZZZ; I was exhausted and called the flight operations duty officer. I told him that I was exhausted and unable to continue. He informed crew scheduling that I was fatigued and that they would have to find another crew member. Zone switching should be eliminated by better pilot management. Also reserve pilots in the proper zone in ZZZ to handle any crew member problems. Pilot fatigue!

Narrative: THE PREVIOUS DAY TO THE FLT; FLEW A 12+ HR DUTY DAY! FINISHED AT APPROX XA00. ON ARR BACK TO BASE; WAS SENT AN ACARS MESSAGE FROM DISPATCH TO CONTACT CREW SCHEDULING. ON ARR; CREW SCHEDULING INFORMED ME THAT I WAS BEING SWITCHED FROM THE EARLY ZONE TO THE LATE ZONE AND GIVEN THE ZZZ2 LATE NIGHT FLT! I LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE RESERVES AVAILABLE TO FLY THE EVENT AND THERE WERE 3 RESERVES IN THE PROPER ZONE TO FLY THAT TRIP. I WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY SLEEP THAT DAY AND I CALLED TO CHK IN WITH CREW SCHEDULING AND LET THEM KNOW THAT I WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY SLEEP AND WAS AFRAID THAT I WOULD NOT FEEL GOOD WHEN I ARRIVED IN ZZZ. I ALSO CALLED MY BASE CHIEF PLT WHO INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD DO MY BEST; BUT IF WHEN I ARRIVED IN ZZZ ASSESS IF I WAS FIT TO FLY. WHEN I ARRIVED IN ZZZ; I WAS EXHAUSTED AND CALLED THE FLT OPS DUTY OFFICER. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS EXHAUSTED AND UNABLE TO CONTINUE. HE INFORMED CREW SCHEDULING THAT I WAS FATIGUED AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER CREW MEMBER. ZONE SWITCHING SHOULD BE ELIMINATED BY BETTER PLT MGMNT. ALSO RESERVE PLTS IN THE PROPER ZONE IN ZZZ TO HANDLE ANY CREW MEMBER PROBS. PLT FATIGUE!
