Narrative:

On approach to runway 7 at lzu; I misread the approach plate and descended toward 2000 ft instead of 2800 ft prior to the FAF. Flight conditions were IMC in moderate rain. I realized my mistake when the lzu tower issued a low altitude warning. At that time I had crossed the FAF and continued descent to minimums and landed. This was an approach that I make only occasionally and simply did not study the approach close enough and mistook 2800 ft for 2000 ft.
