Narrative:
We were cleared the ILS runway 22L approach and given a shallow intercept to the localizer. We had tuned and idented the ILS. I was in map mode and the first officer was in arc (raw data). The winds at 2000 ft were approximately 260 degrees/30 KTS; 500 ft overcast mi RA br. We were tracking the ILS and at about 700 ft all of the data on my pfd disappeared for about 2-3 seconds. When they reappeared the ILS raw data on my pfd was still tracking the ILS the pitch and roll bars were steady; however; all modes of the flight mode annunciator indications were flashing. We broke out at 500 ft pointing to runway 22R. I saw an aircraft on the runway and initiated a go around. The tower saw us and called for a go around also. We retuned the ILS re-verified the identifier and landed with no problems on our second approach. A maintenance entry was logged regarding the unusual display and indications on my pfd.

Title: AN A300 PILOT BROKE OUT AT 500 FT ALIGNED WITH A PARALLEL RWY AFTER A NORMAL APCH TO 700 FT WHEN THE PFD MOMENTARILY FLASHED BUT THEN STABILIZED.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED THE ILS RWY 22L APCH AND GIVEN A SHALLOW INTERCEPT TO THE LOC. WE HAD TUNED AND IDENTED THE ILS. I WAS IN MAP MODE AND THE FO WAS IN ARC (RAW DATA). THE WINDS AT 2000 FT WERE APPROX 260 DEGS/30 KTS; 500 FT OVCST MI RA BR. WE WERE TRACKING THE ILS AND AT ABOUT 700 FT ALL OF THE DATA ON MY PFD DISAPPEARED FOR ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS. WHEN THEY REAPPEARED THE ILS RAW DATA ON MY PFD WAS STILL TRACKING THE ILS THE PITCH AND ROLL BARS WERE STEADY; HOWEVER; ALL MODES OF THE FLT MODE ANNUNCIATOR INDICATIONS WERE FLASHING. WE BROKE OUT AT 500 FT POINTING TO RWY 22R. I SAW AN ACFT ON THE RWY AND INITIATED A GAR. THE TWR SAW US AND CALLED FOR A GAR ALSO. WE RETUNED THE ILS RE-VERIFIED THE IDENTIFIER AND LANDED WITH NO PROBS ON OUR SECOND APCH. A MAINT ENTRY WAS LOGGED REGARDING THE UNUSUAL DISPLAY AND INDICATIONS ON MY PFD.
