Narrative:
We arrived in ZZZ. The aircraft was parked and the seatbelt sign was turned off. The cockpit heard some yelling from behind our cockpit door. After our parking checklist was complete; we opened our door to find out what was going on. Our purser told us that the arriving gate agent tried to open the aircraft door at 1L without clearing the door first with the flight attendant. Our flight attendant yelled at the gate agent that the door was not disarmed yet. As the door started to open; our flight attendant leaned over from his jumpseat to stop the door from opening. The door handle from 1L struck our flight attendant on the forehead resulting in a small cut that starting bleeding. He also stopped the door from opening. Our flight attendant continued to disarm the door and inform the agent that it was 'now' clear to open 1L. The plane deplaned without further incident. SOP was not being followed from ZZZ gate agent. A slide deployment in the confined jetway could have been deadly. The agent apologized and quickly left the scene.

OUR FLT ATTENDANT CONTINUED TO DISARM THE DOOR AND INFORM THE AGENT THAT IT WAS 'NOW' CLR TO OPEN 1L.
