Narrative:

I was number 2 for landing on runway 23 at albert ellis airport. A crj checked in and said that he was on final for runway 5. When he heard us call again that we were using runway 5 he seemed aggravated that the aircraft here was using runway 23 and that he would need to go around and enter the traffic. After a few calls back and forth; he agreed to work in with us. This seems to be an issue as the crj aircraft are able to land with about a 10-15 KT tailwind while most light general aviation aircraft land into the most favorable headwind. The commuters have always been cordial and worked into traffic. But one airline here always seems to be a problem. They always want to take off on runway 23 and land on runway 5. These aircraft always seem to flex their muscles and try to put the rest of us out of the way. They even have an attitude when they call on the radio. If everyone works together; then we can all use the same runway safely. It seems like these pilots do not know how to operate at non-towered airports. They always make radio calls that are not in accordance with the aeronautical information manual: [section 4-1-9 G. Self-announce position and/or intentions 1. General. Self-announce is a procedure whereby pilots broadcast their position or intended flight activity or ground operation on the designated CTAF. This procedure is used primarily at airports which do not have an FSS on the airport. The self announce procedure should also be used if a pilot is unable to communicate with the FSS on the designated CTAF. Pilots stating; 'traffic in the area; please advise' is not a recognized self-announce position and/or intention phrase and should not be used under any condition.] they always use the phrase 'traffic in the area; please advise' although this term shall not be used. Are they maintaining visual separation from other traffic or are they just listening for other aircraft on the radio? Do they even know that a radio is not required to land at a non-towered airport? These crj's are going to cause a collision if they continue to act in the unsafe manner that they are currently conducting themselves.

Title: C177 PILOT REPORTS CONFLICT WITH CRJ200 REPORTING STRAIGHT IN FOR RWY 5 AT OAJ WITH THE TRAFFIC USING RWY 23. CRJ RELUCTANTLY ADJUSTS TO PREVAILING TRAFFIC.

Narrative: I WAS NUMBER 2 FOR LNDG ON RWY 23 AT ALBERT ELLIS ARPT. A CRJ CHKED IN AND SAID THAT HE WAS ON FINAL FOR RWY 5. WHEN HE HEARD US CALL AGAIN THAT WE WERE USING RWY 5 HE SEEMED AGGRAVATED THAT THE ACFT HERE WAS USING RWY 23 AND THAT HE WOULD NEED TO GO AROUND AND ENTER THE TFC. AFTER A FEW CALLS BACK AND FORTH; HE AGREED TO WORK IN WITH US. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE AS THE CRJ ACFT ARE ABLE TO LAND WITH ABOUT A 10-15 KT TAILWIND WHILE MOST LIGHT GENERAL AVIATION ACFT LAND INTO THE MOST FAVORABLE HEADWIND. THE COMMUTERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN CORDIAL AND WORKED INTO TFC. BUT ONE AIRLINE HERE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM. THEY ALWAYS WANT TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 23 AND LAND ON RWY 5. THESE ACFT ALWAYS SEEM TO FLEX THEIR MUSCLES AND TRY TO PUT THE REST OF US OUT OF THE WAY. THEY EVEN HAVE AN ATTITUDE WHEN THEY CALL ON THE RADIO. IF EVERYONE WORKS TOGETHER; THEN WE CAN ALL USE THE SAME RWY SAFELY. IT SEEMS LIKE THESE PLTS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OPERATE AT NON-TOWERED AIRPORTS.
