Narrative:
I was assigned to do a check on #1 engine of aircraft X together with mr xxxxx. After the job card was accomplished; we started the engine close-up. We made sure every panel was secured and properly latched. Upon landing in ZZZ; it was found that the reverser was damaged due to an open access door. It is not known if the door accidentally opened due to landing procedure. Supplemental information from acn 776590: upon arrival at ZZZ; found #1 engine thrust reverser cowl damaged. Callback conversation with reporter acn 776591 revealed the following information: reporter stated that one of the two lower access panels for the fan duct cowl and thrust reverser cowl latches came open and was damaged during thrust reverser operation on landing. Reporter also stated his carrier is aware of similar problems with the latches for the access panel not remaining secured and latched. His company maintenance engineering is considering some type of improvement to keep latches closed.
