Narrative:
After deicing we approached the runway for takeoff. A truck was in position and proceeded to do a runway condition check. He reported the 1/8-1/4 inch of wet snow. We then were cleared for takeoff. As we approached our contamination corrected V1 speed of 126 KTS; we encountered an area of frozen ridges and the aircraft stopped accelerating. We waited a few seconds to see what would happen; but the aircraft stagnated at 126 KTS; at which point we aborted the takeoff. The reversers were deployed and deceleration began. We then began to drift to the left of centerline. With plenty of runway remaining; the reversers were reduced to idle and control was regained. As we came to a stop; we realized the right engine had failed sometime during the takeoff roll. We both believe the engine failure was caused by ice ingestion.

Title: A MD80 ENG FAILED DURING A REJECTED TKOF ON A SLUSH COVERED RWY. ICE INGESTION IS BELIEVED TO BE THE CAUSE.
Narrative: AFTER DEICING WE APCHED THE RWY FOR TKOF. A TRUCK WAS IN POS AND PROCEEDED TO DO A RWY CONDITION CHK. HE RPTED THE 1/8-1/4 INCH OF WET SNOW. WE THEN WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. AS WE APCHED OUR CONTAMINATION CORRECTED V1 SPD OF 126 KTS; WE ENCOUNTERED AN AREA OF FROZEN RIDGES AND THE ACFT STOPPED ACCELERATING. WE WAITED A FEW SECONDS TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN; BUT THE ACFT STAGNATED AT 126 KTS; AT WHICH POINT WE ABORTED THE TKOF. THE REVERSERS WERE DEPLOYED AND DECELERATION BEGAN. WE THEN BEGAN TO DRIFT TO THE L OF CTRLINE. WITH PLENTY OF RWY REMAINING; THE REVERSERS WERE REDUCED TO IDLE AND CTL WAS REGAINED. AS WE CAME TO A STOP; WE REALIZED THE R ENG HAD FAILED SOMETIME DURING THE TKOF ROLL. WE BOTH BELIEVE THE ENG FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY ICE INGESTION.
