Narrative:

About 2 hours after departure from ZZZ during cruise at FL380; flight attendant advised me that a passenger had pointed out to her that an access door on the inside cowl of the left engine was open. We entered the item in the logbook and sent the information ahead to ZZZ1. Upon landing at ZZZ1; a passenger informed first officer that he saw the access panel separate during landing; apparently when the thrust reversers were deployed. First officer stated that during his walkaround at ZZZ; ground personnel were working on that section of the engine. ZZZ1 maintenance personnel stated that they would inform the tower of possible FOD on the runway.
