Narrative:
Filed route on dispatch release to bwi was: ZZZ..put..nelie..J75.mxe.V378.balance..bwi. Our amended clearance read: -put..nelie..J75.cmk-. Following the amended clearance there was not a './.' which would have meant as filed after cmk. The first officer and I agreed that since we were not cleared as filed after cmk we would proceed to balance. Approaching cmk we were cleared to an intersection along J75 between cmk and mxe. We informed center that our amended clearance did not include that intersection. He was surprised that our amended clearance did not include J75 south of cmk. We were then cleared to an intersection along J75 south of cmk. We were never in conflict with any other traffic. Center issued a new clearance which included the intersection along J75 south of cmk. Pre departure clearance's should use wording similar to a clearance spoken by a controller. Since there was not a './.' after the amended clearance; I should contact clearance delivery for clarification of route.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR FLT CREW DISCOVERS THAT A REVISED ROUTING SEGMENT ON THEIR PDC CLRNC DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN THE ROUTING HAS BEEN REVISED.
Narrative: FILED RTE ON DISPATCH RELEASE TO BWI WAS: ZZZ..PUT..NELIE..J75.MXE.V378.BAL..BWI. OUR AMENDED CLRNC READ: -PUT..NELIE..J75.CMK-. FOLLOWING THE AMENDED CLRNC THERE WAS NOT A './.' WHICH WOULD HAVE MEANT AS FILED AFTER CMK. THE FO AND I AGREED THAT SINCE WE WERE NOT CLRED AS FILED AFTER CMK WE WOULD PROCEED TO BAL. APCHING CMK WE WERE CLRED TO AN INTXN ALONG J75 BTWN CMK AND MXE. WE INFORMED CTR THAT OUR AMENDED CLRNC DID NOT INCLUDE THAT INTXN. HE WAS SURPRISED THAT OUR AMENDED CLRNC DID NOT INCLUDE J75 S OF CMK. WE WERE THEN CLRED TO AN INTXN ALONG J75 S OF CMK. WE WERE NEVER IN CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER TFC. CTR ISSUED A NEW CLRNC WHICH INCLUDED THE INTXN ALONG J75 S OF CMK. PDC'S SHOULD USE WORDING SIMILAR TO A CLRNC SPOKEN BY A CTLR. SINCE THERE WAS NOT A './.' AFTER THE AMENDED CLRNC; I SHOULD CONTACT CLRNC DELIVERY FOR CLARIFICATION OF RTE.
