Narrative:
I was tasked with accomplishing task card #XXXX. I entered the aft unpressurized compartment and placed plugs on the elevator feel computer drain lines. The inboard plug had a 'maintenance in progress' streamer attached to it. I forgot to remove this streamer and attach it to the access door. I proceeded with the leak check. The aircraft passed the leak check. I put away the man lift and pitot static test set. I totally forgot about the drains being plugged. I did not close the aft compartment access door because other mechanics would have to enter to lube the stabilizer jack screw; etc. The aircraft was repositioned to the ramp area near the terminal. I realized I'd left the plugs on when I was getting ready for work in the evening the next day. When I got to work; I notified my supervisor. He notified maintenance control of my mistake.
