Narrative:
Upon arrival at aircraft to begin preflight duties; caterers were busy inside and outside of door 1R. Electrical power was turned on. Our flight attendants and captain were not present at aircraft at this time. The caterer working inside at door 1R said they were having trouble opening it because it was jamming against the frame. I looked and noticed the slide pack cover was coming off. They had attempted to open it originally from outside but got it open about only 1 ft. Upon further inspection; I noticed the girt bar was engaged at the bottom right side of door. The armed light was not illuminated; but the lever was in the armed position. In addition; I discovered the door at 1L was also armed. I told both caterers to stay away from the door both inside and outside. Maintenance was notified via ACARS and station operations. Fortunately no slide deployment/injuries occurred. Unfortunately; we were delayed for 6 hours due to the need to dispatch maintenance personnel with parts.
