Narrative:
Upon descent we received a flaps half-speed status message immediately followed by a flaps fail caution message. We performed the QRH procedure for flaps fail caution message; declared an emergency and landed flaps 0 degree in ZZZ safely. We noticed before leaving ZZZ1 the aircraft returned to ZZZ1 and landed flaps 0 degree that same day. The maintenance actions included operating the flaps and a deferral that deferred a 'task card.' the indication I got from maintenance control was the deferral gave them 3 days to look deeper into the problem. The result was 2 emergency lndgs with passenger in the same aircraft in the same day. Maintenance did end up ferrying a different aircraft to ZZZ to operate flight X in the morning after the event.
