Narrative:
Departing ZZZ about 7 mi from airport I over-leaned engine and developed a bad misfire of the engine. I turned back and declared an emergency but before I landed; the misfire went away. As a mechanic I determined the aircraft was now airworthy because of the condition of the running and gauges and cancelled the emergency. My analysis was accurate in the fact that I was able to continue the flight with no problem and in the next 3 days flew with no problems or maintenance.
