Narrative:

After installing new left main gear on aircraft (overhauled gear); had left gear unsafe light illuminated in flight deck. Test indicated proximity sensor 15GA to be at fault. After further troubleshooting; found twisted wire pair pinched and shorting out inside of conduit at 90 degree bend at top of strut; between 15GA and connector 4027VC. Reference ipc; after wires were replaced with a new twisted pair; all indications were normal. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the left main gear unsafe light illuminated in the cockpit; while the aircraft was still on jacks in the hangar. This was not an in-flight incident.

REF IPC; AFTER WIRES WERE REPLACED WITH A NEW TWISTED PAIR; ALL INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER STATED THE LEFT MAIN GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN THE COCKPIT; WHILE THE ACFT WAS STILL ON JACKS IN THE HANGAR. THIS WAS NOT AN IN-FLIGHT INCIDENT.
