Narrative:
Was told by tower that runway 14L at taxiway U was full length; take off was normal; however data shows 10005 ft. A NOTAM later found showed 7310 ft available at taxiway U. Correct airplane performance data.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter clarified that the airport in question was ord and stated that significant delays had occurred that day. The available runway appeared sufficient even though it did not appear that the company reported length was available. The tower could have been more helpful.

Title: B737 FLT CREW RPTS DEPARTING RWY 14L AT ORD FROM TXWY U; THINKING IT IS FULL LENGTH AS RPTED BY TWR.
Narrative: WAS TOLD BY TWR THAT RWY 14L AT TXWY U WAS FULL LENGTH; TAKE OFF WAS NORMAL; HOWEVER DATA SHOWS 10005 FT. A NOTAM LATER FOUND SHOWED 7310 FT AVAILABLE AT TXWY U. CORRECT AIRPLANE PERFORMANCE DATA.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR CLARIFIED THAT THE ARPT IN QUESTION WAS ORD AND STATED THAT SIGNIFICANT DELAYS HAD OCCURRED THAT DAY. THE AVAILABLE RWY APPEARED SUFFICIENT EVEN THOUGH IT DID NOT APPEAR THAT THE COMPANY RPTED LENGTH WAS AVAILABLE. THE TWR COULD HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL.
