Narrative:

After doing the preflight; I needed to go into the terminal. I used the same door to go into the terminal that we used to enter the jetway. The placard on the door says 'emergency exit; push bar and hold; alarm will sound; door can be opened in 5 seconds.' after entering the terminal; I closed the door. Upon my return; the gate agent asked if I had used the door. I said yes. The gate agent said that I need to talk with the guy on the phone. The guy on the phone asked me for my name and employee identify. Since he did not identify himself; I did not give him the information. He said that they were going to give me a security violation for using the door. I immediately contacted scheduling to contact the chief pilot and also called the union. The police and airport security came to the gate. I complied with the police officer's request for my identify and driver's license. I told the police that I was following the directions on the door to enter the terminal area. I was issued a violation. I can think of a number of doors that we use that have the same type of information that we go through every day. Under no circumstance do I feel it is appropriate to give my company or personal information to someone over the phone unless I can verify who they are. Instead of picking on a pilot; security should have been more concerned with the employee that wrote the jetway door code on the outside of the jetway door going to the ramp at ZZZ. This event occurred because of inadequate signage and poor procedures. Crew members use doors that are placarded all the time. This forms the perception that it is ok to ignore warning signs and is a breakdown in the intended barrier. All pilots should be required to have a security identify which would give them access to the security control pad on the type of door I went through.

Title: AN ACR FO WAS ISSUED A CITATION BY AIRPORT POLICE WHEN HE ENTERED THE TERMINAL THROUGH AN EMERGENCY EXIT.

Narrative: AFTER DOING THE PREFLT; I NEEDED TO GO INTO THE TERMINAL. I USED THE SAME DOOR TO GO INTO THE TERMINAL THAT WE USED TO ENTER THE JETWAY. THE PLACARD ON THE DOOR SAYS 'EMER EXIT; PUSH BAR AND HOLD; ALARM WILL SOUND; DOOR CAN BE OPENED IN 5 SECONDS.' AFTER ENTERING THE TERMINAL; I CLOSED THE DOOR. THE POLICE AND ARPT SECURITY CAME TO THE GATE. I COMPLIED WITH THE POLICE OFFICER'S REQUEST FOR MY IDENT AND DRIVER'S LICENSE. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE DO I FEEL IT IS APPROPRIATE TO GIVE MY COMPANY OR PERSONAL INFO TO SOMEONE OVER THE PHONE UNLESS I CAN VERIFY WHO THEY ARE. INSTEAD OF PICKING ON A PLT; SECURITY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CONCERNED WITH THE EMPLOYEE THAT WROTE THE JETWAY DOOR CODE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE JETWAY DOOR GOING TO THE RAMP AT ZZZ. THIS EVENT OCCURRED BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE SIGNAGE AND POOR PROCS. CREW MEMBERS USE DOORS THAT ARE PLACARDED ALL THE TIME. THIS FORMS THE PERCEPTION THAT IT IS OK TO IGNORE WARNING SIGNS AND IS A BREAKDOWN IN THE INTENDED BARRIER. ALL PLTS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A SECURITY IDENT WHICH WOULD GIVE THEM ACCESS TO THE SECURITY CTL PAD ON THE TYPE OF DOOR I WENT THROUGH.
