Narrative:

After a landing; I noticed a smell of oily smoke in the cockpit. My first officer noticed it too and said he saw smoke. The lead called forward and said that he could smell the odor too and could see faint smoke. I brought the aircraft to a halt and the smell and apparently smoke dissipated rapidly. I taxied to the gate and spoke to the mechanic. He turned off the external air and ran the APU and packs. After discussion with the mechanic; I agreed that this was probably exhaust fumes ingested on landing and that it had cleared. We taxied out on the next flight and waited approximately 20 mins for departure. After receiving clearance for takeoff; I advanced the thrust levers to 50% N1 and immediately smelled a strong oily smell. My first officer stated he could see smoke; so I closed the thrust lever and taxied clear of the runway and back to the gate. I spoke with the mechanic; called my dispatcher and it was decided that the passenger be removed from the aircraft so the problem could be investigated. I was talking with dispatch and waiting for them to instruct me as to whether they wanted me to stay with the aircraft or catch a flight to ZZZ to continue my trip sequence. It was decided that I would leave the aircraft and continue to ZZZ on another flight. I made an entry in the logbook regarding the event and left.

Title: A319 FLT CREW EXPERIENCES OILY FUMES; ODOR AND SMOKE ON TKOF ROLL. REJECT TKOF AND RETURN FOR MAINT.

Narrative: AFTER A LNDG; I NOTICED A SMELL OF OILY SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. MY FO NOTICED IT TOO AND SAID HE SAW SMOKE. THE LEAD CALLED FORWARD AND SAID THAT HE COULD SMELL THE ODOR TOO AND COULD SEE FAINT SMOKE. I BROUGHT THE ACFT TO A HALT AND THE SMELL AND APPARENTLY SMOKE DISSIPATED RAPIDLY. I TAXIED TO THE GATE AND SPOKE TO THE MECH. HE TURNED OFF THE EXTERNAL AIR AND RAN THE APU AND PACKS. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH THE MECH; I AGREED THAT THIS WAS PROBABLY EXHAUST FUMES INGESTED ON LNDG AND THAT IT HAD CLRED. WE TAXIED OUT ON THE NEXT FLT AND WAITED APPROX 20 MINS FOR DEP. AFTER RECEIVING CLRNC FOR TKOF; I ADVANCED THE THRUST LEVERS TO 50% N1 AND IMMEDIATELY SMELLED A STRONG OILY SMELL. MY FO STATED HE COULD SEE SMOKE; SO I CLOSED THE THRUST LEVER AND TAXIED CLR OF THE RWY AND BACK TO THE GATE. I SPOKE WITH THE MECH; CALLED MY DISPATCHER AND IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE PAX BE REMOVED FROM THE ACFT SO THE PROB COULD BE INVESTIGATED. I WAS TALKING WITH DISPATCH AND WAITING FOR THEM TO INSTRUCT ME AS TO WHETHER THEY WANTED ME TO STAY WITH THE ACFT OR CATCH A FLT TO ZZZ TO CONTINUE MY TRIP SEQUENCE. IT WAS DECIDED THAT I WOULD LEAVE THE ACFT AND CONTINUE TO ZZZ ON ANOTHER FLT. I MADE AN ENTRY IN THE LOGBOOK REGARDING THE EVENT AND LEFT.
