Narrative:

Departing san the release read: san PEBLE3.sxc..lax..gmn..pxn. The pre departure clearance read: -LNSAY2 falcc sli gmn pxn-. When reviewing the route page I verified that the lnsay 2 departure was indicated with sli transition. I did not notice on the legs page that falcc intersection was not listed. The SID defaults to harbr transition prior to sli. As we were making the turn at lnsay intersection; la center asked our heading noticing we were turning toward harbr intersection instead of falcc. We were cleared direct to sli with no conflict with any traffic. On the lnsay 2 departure in the FMC; harbr intersection should be listed as a transition option like falcc and sxc. If there was a discontinuity after lnsay intersection you would be forced to choose the proper transition. In this case falcc would have been chosen. The SID defaults to harbr intersection which is prior to sli.supplemental information from acn 792076: I; the first officer; was going to be the pm and performed my duties during the preflight. When I looked at the pre departure clearance it read -LNSAY2 falcc sli gmn pxn- instead of our filed peble 3 departure to sxc dct lax dct pxn. When I went to the departure/arrival page on the FMC I selected the lnsay departure and the sli transition instead of the falcc transition. I mistook the transition because I saw 'sli' and in both the pre departure clearance and on the FMC page and selected it instead if falcc. When I went to the legs page I focused my attention on the four fixes leading up to lnsay to confirm the points and altitude restrictions and glanced over harbr as I saw sli which I thought I selected correctly. When I gave my departure briefing I focused my attention on the altitude restrictions and fixes leading up to lnsay and then said we were on the seal beach (sli) transition and the PF missed my mistake. On departure when we turned over lnsay climbing past 20000 ft MSL to harbr; la center asked us if we were going to falcc and that is when we realized our mistake. We turned back to falcc and then continued to sli. Change the lnsay 2 departure to just 2 separate transitions to read LNSAY2.harbr and LNSAY2.falcc and have sli and sxc as enroute fixes.

Title: A B737 FLT CREW MISSED A SAN PDC LNSAY TWO REVISION WITH A CLRNC FALCC DIRECT SLI. FMS DEFAULT TO HARBR INTXN WAS ACCEPTED IN ERROR.

Narrative: DEPARTING SAN THE RELEASE READ: SAN PEBLE3.SXC..LAX..GMN..PXN. THE PDC READ: -LNSAY2 FALCC SLI GMN PXN-. THE SID DEFAULTS TO HARBR INTERSECTION WHICH IS PRIOR TO SLI.SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 792076: I; THE FO; WAS GOING TO BE THE PM AND PERFORMED MY DUTIES DURING THE PREFLIGHT. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE PDC IT READ -LNSAY2 FALCC SLI GMN PXN- INSTEAD OF OUR FILED PEBLE 3 DEPARTURE TO SXC DCT LAX DCT PXN. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEP/ARR PAGE ON THE FMC I SELECTED THE LNSAY DEPARTURE AND THE SLI TRANSITION INSTEAD OF THE FALCC TRANSITION. I MISTOOK THE TRANSITION BECAUSE I SAW 'SLI' AND IN BOTH THE PDC AND ON THE FMC PAGE AND SELECTED IT INSTEAD IF FALCC.
