Narrative:
On final approach to runway 35C dfw tower gave us permission to land and told us the wind was 220 degrees at 17 KTS gusting to 22 KTS. Our GPS showed 17-20 KTS directly off the tail. Tower then told us the previous 2 planes had initiated missed approachs and had gone around. Tower also reported windshear alerts on their equipment. We elected to go around as well and encountered moderate windshear up to 3000 ft on go around. How could tower have authority/authorized landing to a runway with 17 KTS plus tailwind; windshear and moderate rain. This is setting crews up for an accident. The dfw tower should be ashamed for allowing this and their procedures should be reviewed for unprofessional and dangerous conduct. This was a very disturbing event.
