Narrative:

On descent from assigned altitude; we received a TCAS TA followed by a TCAS RA commanding a climb. We executed the TCAS command and climbed and were given several vectors. Upon landing; I called the phone number received from ZNY and was told I should talk to the supervisor on duty in the morning. I called again in the morning and was informed that the controller had accidentally descended us into crossing traffic and an investigation would take place.
