Narrative:

#2 engine oil temperature gauge increased in temperature on climb out rapidly going into yellow and did reach the red line. My first officer and I followed the checklist for engine high oil temperature and it required us to shut down our #2 engine and land as soon as possible (since the oil temperature had reached the red line limit). We proceeded to execute the checklists involved; advised cabin; passenger; ATC and dispatch. Declared an emergency and did the ILS and landed. Turned over aircraft to maintenance to diagnose and fix the problem.
