Narrative:
During taxi for takeoff we were re-assigned runway 32R. We taxied to and departed runway 32R. ATIS information indicated runway 32R as a departure runway; along with runway 32L from intersection T10 with available runway remaining. ATIS also provided other information regarding birds; ground operations of transponder etc. However -- ATIS did not state that the full length of runway 32R was not available. After departure; and a second review of the seemingly endless NOTAMS; it became apparent that the full length was not available; and an alternative performance code should be used to obtain weights/speeds for runway 32R. We re-ran the numbers and verified that; indeed; our performance numbers were adequate even given the reduced runway length. My point: ATIS should specify the closure of a certain length of a runway -- particularly since they are yielding that information for another runway also in use. I recognize that the NOTAMS are a responsibility; but given the potential significance for the issue at hand; the ATIS should emphasize the characteristics of all runways in use.

Title: A320 FO BELIEVES ATIS AT ORD FAILS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE RWY REMAINING INFORMATION WHEN LESS THAN FULL LENGTH IS AVAILABLE.
Narrative: DURING TAXI FOR TKOF WE WERE RE-ASSIGNED RWY 32R. WE TAXIED TO AND DEPARTED RWY 32R. ATIS INFO INDICATED RWY 32R AS A DEP RWY; ALONG WITH RWY 32L FROM INTXN T10 WITH AVAILABLE RWY REMAINING. ATIS ALSO PROVIDED OTHER INFO REGARDING BIRDS; GND OPS OF XPONDER ETC. HOWEVER -- ATIS DID NOT STATE THAT THE FULL LENGTH OF RWY 32R WAS NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER DEP; AND A SECOND REVIEW OF THE SEEMINGLY ENDLESS NOTAMS; IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THE FULL LENGTH WAS NOT AVAILABLE; AND AN ALTERNATIVE PERFORMANCE CODE SHOULD BE USED TO OBTAIN WTS/SPDS FOR RWY 32R. WE RE-RAN THE NUMBERS AND VERIFIED THAT; INDEED; OUR PERFORMANCE NUMBERS WERE ADEQUATE EVEN GIVEN THE REDUCED RWY LENGTH. MY POINT: ATIS SHOULD SPECIFY THE CLOSURE OF A CERTAIN LENGTH OF A RWY -- PARTICULARLY SINCE THEY ARE YIELDING THAT INFORMATION FOR ANOTHER RWY ALSO IN USE. I RECOGNIZE THAT THE NOTAMS ARE A RESPONSIBILITY; BUT GIVEN THE POTENTIAL SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE ISSUE AT HAND; THE ATIS SHOULD EMPHASIZE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ALL RWYS IN USE.
