Narrative:
Was going to repos from GA on the northeast side of the airport to GA on the southwest side of the airport. There is a slight rise from the northeast hangars to runway 28. I pulled up to the area marked FBO and requested progressive to FBO. I was told to taxi taxiway J; taxiway K; taxiway left. As I taxied up toward runway 28; I stopped and again asked for progressive. This was due to the fact taxiway J was not marked. There was a sign about 100-200 ft down on the right side; however; it was 'black' with 'no' markings or letters. I was told to taxi straight ahead on taxiway J. Straight ahead was a sign 'J' 24. I started to taxi and when I crossed the yellow lines I knew I was not where I was supposed to be. I stopped and made a 180 degree turn. 1/2 way through the turn; the controller called and told me to go back and turn right on taxiway J. I was then given a number to call; which I did.
