Narrative:

On takeoff roll; nose baggage door came open. Aborted takeoff. Needed maximum braking to stop plane before end of runway. Stopped; near centerline; before last turnoff. Both main tires were blown. Requested tow from tower. Towed off runway to maintenance facility. Both tires were replaced. Baggage door was in locked position. Lock was repaired. No other problems -- no injuries; no damage to runway; no damage to plane other than flat tires. Since there was sufficient runway to abort takeoff; and since it was the nose baggage door that opened (not a rear door) and this door might come loose; hit the windscreen; damage the cowling; a propeller; etc -- even injure us -- I thought best decision was the one made -- to abort.

Title: C207 REJECTS TKOF WHEN FORWARD BAGGAGE DOOR OPENS. BOTH MAIN TIRES BLOW OUT.

Narrative: ON TKOF ROLL; NOSE BAGGAGE DOOR CAME OPEN. ABORTED TKOF. NEEDED MAX BRAKING TO STOP PLANE BEFORE END OF RWY. STOPPED; NEAR CTRLINE; BEFORE LAST TURNOFF. BOTH MAIN TIRES WERE BLOWN. REQUESTED TOW FROM TWR. TOWED OFF RWY TO MAINT FACILITY. BOTH TIRES WERE REPLACED. BAGGAGE DOOR WAS IN LOCKED POS. LOCK WAS REPAIRED. NO OTHER PROBS -- NO INJURIES; NO DAMAGE TO RWY; NO DAMAGE TO PLANE OTHER THAN FLAT TIRES. SINCE THERE WAS SUFFICIENT RWY TO ABORT TKOF; AND SINCE IT WAS THE NOSE BAGGAGE DOOR THAT OPENED (NOT A REAR DOOR) AND THIS DOOR MIGHT COME LOOSE; HIT THE WINDSCREEN; DAMAGE THE COWLING; A PROP; ETC -- EVEN INJURE US -- I THOUGHT BEST DECISION WAS THE ONE MADE -- TO ABORT.
