Narrative:

Upon final approach to landing on runway 8L at hnl international; we executed a go around procedure. This was a proactive go around; to avoid a possible conflict with another aircraft. My first officer was flying that particular leg; and noticed a GA cherokee (aircraft Y) flying towards our approach path. He immediately executed a go around; and the flight continued without incident. I personally believe the pilot was inexperienced; and turned the wrong direction (towards our approach path). As we accelerated and climbed; I noticed the cherokee passing from left to right; directly below what would have been our final approach path.
