Narrative:

The entry of the erids system into the ATC workplace has caused some conflicts in the manner of depicting NAVAID outage data. The NOTAM showing the NAVAID OTS is available in erids; but not; generally; on the summary page. This causes some flm's and controllers to list the NAVAID outage on the sector status display. Unfortunately; when this is done and someone fails to remove the entry when the NAVAID returns to service; we have a problem. On day 1; the law VOR was returned to service and its outage NOTAM cancelled. On day 2; fort sill approach (fsi) had a planned shutdown that handed their airspace to the overlying fort worth ARTCC sectors. On day 5 after assuming the adm-left radar/RA/rh position; I checked the erids and saw the NOTAM for law VOR OTS was not there; however; it was still showing OTS on the ssd. I questioned the flm; who checked and confirmed that the law VOR had returned to service sometime on the previous day 1. Why is this important? Well; knowing the VOR is or isn't OTS will impact: 1) lost aircraft orientation; 2) routing for non-RNAV (GPS) aircraft; 3) approach planning and issuance. These are just a few; but highlight the problem. The worst aspect of this is the fsi shutdown. When fsi shut down; the adm-left sector controled about 50% of their airspace and believed the primary NAVAID serving law (and several other purposes) was not available for use. This is a very dangerous situation for pilots. This is also far from the first time this issue has been brought to the attention of management at ZFW; and still nothing other than exhortations to flm's to be more active in checking ssb entries have occurred.

Title: ZFW CTLR EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING THE POSTING OF ACCURATE AND TIMELY NOTAM INFO VIA ERIDS VS. SYSTEMS DATA DISPLAY.

Narrative: THE ENTRY OF THE ERIDS SYS INTO THE ATC WORKPLACE HAS CAUSED SOME CONFLICTS IN THE MANNER OF DEPICTING NAVAID OUTAGE DATA. THE NOTAM SHOWING THE NAVAID OTS IS AVAILABLE IN ERIDS; BUT NOT; GENERALLY; ON THE SUMMARY PAGE. THIS CAUSES SOME FLM'S AND CTLRS TO LIST THE NAVAID OUTAGE ON THE SECTOR STATUS DISPLAY. UNFORTUNATELY; WHEN THIS IS DONE AND SOMEONE FAILS TO REMOVE THE ENTRY WHEN THE NAVAID RETURNS TO SVC; WE HAVE A PROB. ON DAY 1; THE LAW VOR WAS RETURNED TO SVC AND ITS OUTAGE NOTAM CANCELLED. ON DAY 2; FORT SILL APCH (FSI) HAD A PLANNED SHUTDOWN THAT HANDED THEIR AIRSPACE TO THE OVERLYING FORT WORTH ARTCC SECTORS. ON DAY 5 AFTER ASSUMING THE ADM-L RADAR/RA/RH POS; I CHKED THE ERIDS AND SAW THE NOTAM FOR LAW VOR OTS WAS NOT THERE; HOWEVER; IT WAS STILL SHOWING OTS ON THE SSD. I QUESTIONED THE FLM; WHO CHKED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE LAW VOR HAD RETURNED TO SVC SOMETIME ON THE PREVIOUS DAY 1. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? WELL; KNOWING THE VOR IS OR ISN'T OTS WILL IMPACT: 1) LOST ACFT ORIENTATION; 2) ROUTING FOR NON-RNAV (GPS) ACFT; 3) APCH PLANNING AND ISSUANCE. THESE ARE JUST A FEW; BUT HIGHLIGHT THE PROB. THE WORST ASPECT OF THIS IS THE FSI SHUTDOWN. WHEN FSI SHUT DOWN; THE ADM-L SECTOR CTLED ABOUT 50% OF THEIR AIRSPACE AND BELIEVED THE PRIMARY NAVAID SERVING LAW (AND SEVERAL OTHER PURPOSES) WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR USE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR PLTS. THIS IS ALSO FAR FROM THE FIRST TIME THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTN OF MGMNT AT ZFW; AND STILL NOTHING OTHER THAN EXHORTATIONS TO FLM'S TO BE MORE ACTIVE IN CHKING SSB ENTRIES HAVE OCCURRED.
