Narrative:
While at cruise; FL360 going direct ZZZZ1; 445 mi away from this fix; and en route from ZZZZ2 to ZZZ; a failure of the yellow hydraulic system occurred. ECAM warnings alerted us of this failure and it was confirmed by observing quality zero. All flight manual procedures accomplished and decision was made to divert to ZZZZ3. Based on airports available; WX conditions; runway length; and available emergency resources; ZZZZ3 was selected. Divert accomplished using dispatch and other air carrier and ATC resources. At divert destination; an overweight landing was required. All flight manual procedures accomplished in accordance with overweight landing checklist. No additional abnormal occurrences. Landing made safely and within parameters of flight manual and normal taxi to parking accomplished. At all times; emergency crews were on alert and at all times; aircraft system were monitored to ensure safe operation.
