Narrative:
We received clearance by ground to taxi to runway 26R and hold short of runway 7 on delta. Delta taxiway is also runway 7/25 and vise versa. When we were turned over to tower we were holding short of runway 7. We thought tower said taxi to runway 26R via delta and we continued our taxi. Halfway down runway 7 (delta) tower called us and asked us if we had clearance to taxi on runway 7. We replied he had clrd us to taxi. He said he had given us clearance to taxi to 26R via delta and hold short runway 7. We were already holding short? We apologized and there was no further problem. When we got to the end of the runway there was another twin aircraft behind us. Were there 2 airplanes inadvertently on the runway/taxiway? Oh well, my first officer made the comment, from now on, he'll give full readback to ground instructions. I agree fully. It was very busy on the ground. Maybe with all the radio congestion we misunderstood. Maybe the controller made a mistake?

Title: COMMUTER TAXIED ON RWY WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: WE RECEIVED CLRNC BY GND TO TAXI TO RWY 26R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 7 ON DELTA. DELTA TXWY IS ALSO RWY 7/25 AND VISE VERSA. WHEN WE WERE TURNED OVER TO TWR WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 7. WE THOUGHT TWR SAID TAXI TO RWY 26R VIA DELTA AND WE CONTINUED OUR TAXI. HALFWAY DOWN RWY 7 (DELTA) TWR CALLED US AND ASKED US IF WE HAD CLRNC TO TAXI ON RWY 7. WE REPLIED HE HAD CLRD US TO TAXI. HE SAID HE HAD GIVEN US CLRNC TO TAXI TO 26R VIA DELTA AND HOLD SHORT RWY 7. WE WERE ALREADY HOLDING SHORT? WE APOLOGIZED AND THERE WAS NO FURTHER PROB. WHEN WE GOT TO THE END OF THE RWY THERE WAS ANOTHER TWIN ACFT BEHIND US. WERE THERE 2 AIRPLANES INADVERTENTLY ON THE RWY/TXWY? OH WELL, MY F/O MADE THE COMMENT, FROM NOW ON, HE'LL GIVE FULL READBACK TO GND INSTRUCTIONS. I AGREE FULLY. IT WAS VERY BUSY ON THE GND. MAYBE WITH ALL THE RADIO CONGESTION WE MISUNDERSTOOD. MAYBE THE CTLR MADE A MISTAKE?
