Narrative:
On preflight in ZZZ; found a small ding in the rvsm clear area of the right side main static ports. We reported this to ZZZ maintenance. A mechanic came out and looked at it; and issued us a new maintenance release with this item. We received the new maintenance release and validated it to be a valid maintenance release. We flew to ZZZ1. On the walkaround in ZZZ1; I noticed that the ding had not been burnished as I had always seen on previous write-ups of this nature. We called maintenance control and discussed this and he said we needed an FBO mechanic to look at this issue. The mechanic came over and determined that it needed further inspection by our maintenance people. It seems to me the problem was not addressed correctly in ZZZ. However; we were told all is well and we were good to go with the valid maintenance release issued. Supplemental information from acn 805519: we contacted maintenance control to see what the proper deferral is for this ding and found that it does need to be filed and re-inspected.
