Narrative:
We were being marshalled; having taken the 'north route' around the north satellite. As the marshaller continued to direct us in; he was unaware of a ground support van approaching from the west; in the vehicle lane; at a moderate rate of speed. The driver of the van was also unaware; due to the lack of the presence of wing walkers; that we were preparing to turn in to the gate. The van was approaching at a high enough rate of speed that by the time he realized we were turning in to the gate; he had to make a fairly abrupt stop and back out of the safety zone. The captain also made a firm stop after beginning his turn. After the zone was clear; we proceeded. I believe that with no wing walkers; the driver of this van did not have adequate cues as to our intentions. We either need wing walkers or some other means of adequately ensuring that the safety zone is and will remain clear of obstacles and threats. The vehicle lane is a particular hazard.

Title: B737 FO REPORTS GROUND CONFLICT WITH VEHICLE DURING TURN IN TO GATE UNDER MARSHALL'S DIRECTION. REPORTER LAMENTS LACK OF WING WALKERS.
Narrative: WE WERE BEING MARSHALLED; HAVING TAKEN THE 'N RTE' AROUND THE N SATELLITE. AS THE MARSHALLER CONTINUED TO DIRECT US IN; HE WAS UNAWARE OF A GND SUPPORT VAN APCHING FROM THE W; IN THE VEHICLE LANE; AT A MODERATE RATE OF SPD. THE DRIVER OF THE VAN WAS ALSO UNAWARE; DUE TO THE LACK OF THE PRESENCE OF WING WALKERS; THAT WE WERE PREPARING TO TURN IN TO THE GATE. THE VAN WAS APCHING AT A HIGH ENOUGH RATE OF SPD THAT BY THE TIME HE REALIZED WE WERE TURNING IN TO THE GATE; HE HAD TO MAKE A FAIRLY ABRUPT STOP AND BACK OUT OF THE SAFETY ZONE. THE CAPT ALSO MADE A FIRM STOP AFTER BEGINNING HIS TURN. AFTER THE ZONE WAS CLR; WE PROCEEDED. I BELIEVE THAT WITH NO WING WALKERS; THE DRIVER OF THIS VAN DID NOT HAVE ADEQUATE CUES AS TO OUR INTENTIONS. WE EITHER NEED WING WALKERS OR SOME OTHER MEANS OF ADEQUATELY ENSURING THAT THE SAFETY ZONE IS AND WILL REMAIN CLR OF OBSTACLES AND THREATS. THE VEHICLE LANE IS A PARTICULAR HAZARD.
