Narrative:
Svcable engine PW4060 was received with improper tie-down per arln specification engine truck shipment check sheet. Engine was secured in such a manner that possible internal damage may have occurred. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the third party trucking company had never hauled an aircraft engine before and was not familiar with the shipping procedures for the PW4060 engine. A four inch strap across the top of the engine was used to tie down the powerplant to the truck bed. As a result; the ninth stage ducting was damaged and preloading of the engine bearing module cases was a serious concern due to the strap procedure and truck bed movement during shipment. Reporter stated the PW4060 had a complete boroscope; fan blade and compressor spin restriction check and a test cell engine run for performance evaluation.
