Narrative:

This is a security issue that the area gate agents and a supervisor advised me has been at gate xy since approximately january 2008. I went to put my security code into gate xy and noticed the door was open by about 1/8 inch. I was able to just pull it open. Anyone could get through this gate. I opened the door wide and released it to see if it would close on its own. It would not! I called zone and had the ground security coordinator come to the aircraft. Before they showed up an air carrier supervisor told me that anytime there is wind; this door will not close on its own. I realize it is our responsibility to make sure the doors are closed behind us; but this door needs to be worked on. The ground security coordinator told me they have been told it is the city's job while the city says it is air carrier's. This door needs to be fixed immediately if we are to be confident the sterile area of ord is secure!
