Narrative:
About 20 mins from ZZZ at FL300; our left generator tripped off. Following company checklist; we attempted to start APU with no luck. Several more attempts were made at different altitudes. With only 1 generator; we decided to declare an emergency and requested direct ZZZ. At 10000 ft; we were finally able to start APU and told approach we'd like to cancel emergency status. We landed without incidence.
